- Byung-chul was the son of a wealthy landowning family
- He attended college at Waseda University in Tokyo, but did not complete his degree.
- The company was based in Seoul by 1947
- He used money his father had left him to establish a rice mill and after that venture failed he went on to start-up a trucking business in Daegu which he named the Samsung Trading Co.
- Set his own goals to started his first business at age 26 in 1936 with
his own beliefs that "the most patriotic thing a business man could do was to
establish national wealth to lay the fundamental for a strong nations".
- The principle of “man and talent first'' applied by Lee & spent 80 percent of his entire life in recruiting, training
people and feels thankful and blissful that all his employees achieved good
performances.
